Communication and Consultation Policy

Education [Early Childhood Centres] Regulations 2008: Subpart 2 43 1a (vi) 1b,1c (ii), 47 1b (i) 47 1d

Desirable Objectives and Practices 1996 Statement: 6, 12, 4c, 8a, 8b, 8c, 10b.

RATIONALE:

Early Childhood on Stafford has a commitment to regular open, two-way communication between, parents, whanau, employees and the wider Community. The Directors will implement effective communication and consultation with all stakeholders

Effective Communication and Consultation will be maintained with the Centre Parents, whanau and the wider Early Childhood on Stafford Community by:

  • The use of the daily whiteboard and notice board to inform of visitors, happenings and special events

  • The provision of information in the children’s named pockets at the doorway

  • The use of phone calls, e-mail and scheduled appointments to discuss child/centre issues

  • Staff and parents/whanau/caregivers sharing daily information on child’s milestones, educational, health issues and well being

  • the distribution of monthly newsletters by email informing of centre events and programme achievements

  • inviting all stakeholders to contribute to charter policy development and centre yearly internal review plan

  • Formally reporting to the community of the achievements of Early Childhood on Stafford annually and how state funding [from the government] has been invested in the education and care of the children that attend

  • The most recent ERO report will be displayed on the noticeboard for all parents/community to access

  • the circulation of questionnaires/survey/exit forms to seek feedback on user satisfaction and to improve quality of service provision

  • Consulting with community [both formally and informally] should there be any proposed change to operations

 

Effective Communication and Consultation by the Directors will be maintained with employees by:

  • Regular monthly staff meetings in which there is time for any issues or concerns to be raised and strategies developed on how to deal with these

  • Ongoing development of centre protocols to further clarify operational expectations

  • The development of an Internal review plan with Annual achievements timetabled

  • Consulting with staff [both formally and informally] should there be any proposed change to operations

  • Our Annual report will detail how bulk funding helped benefit your child’s learning.
