RATIONALE
Early Childhood on Stafford has a strong belief in the benefits of diversity and are committed to ensuring that there are equitable opportunities for learning for all in our community, irrespective of ability, belief system, gender, age, preferred learning style, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. It is our responsibility to ensure children and adults are affirmed as individuals and are encouraged to work with and alongside others. This also reflects our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi under the principles of Protection, Participation, and Partnership. Our centre Value Whanaungatanga also provides the onus on us to welcome and support all in our centre community and we view this Policy as an obvious focus for this.
Policy
Early Childhood on Stafford will provide a learning environment that reflects our wider communities. To achieve this, we need to ensure resources, people, practices, and the centre environment are inclusive, representative and well resourced.
We believe that a positive and empowering approach will benefit all in our centre and we will work alongside groups/individuals to identify areas where there are challenges to participation or areas of understanding that need to be identified and/or clarified.
We are also committed to pragmatic solutions that are financially and economically possible within the very tight budgetary constraints of an early childhood programme.
We will encourage all within our centre to work alongside of us in learning and growing in our understandings of diversity and to be positive about the many strengths and viewpoints that this will bring to help grow Early Childhood on Stafford’s community capacity.
We identify that we have much to learn and as Directors we give the commitment to support our people in this journey whether it be resources (people, equipment, print or digital), training, environmental modification, and/or time.
